VH1 is bringing back “Hip Hop Honors” and we couldn’t be more excited. VH1 Hip Hop Honors was an annual event airing from 2004-2010 that honored the pioneers and the torchbearers. Millions tuned in to VH1 to show respect to the voices and creative minds that made, promoted, and carried the genre. It was a nod to the past, a recognition of the present, and a platform for the future of hip hop artists. Past honorees included Tupac and MC Lyte, with tributes including one to Eazy E in 2006 (video below).

Now, it’s back!
Ladies where you at? This one’s for you!
On July 11, 2016 VH1 will air the first Hip Hop Honors in 6 years, and it’s all about the ladies. The show, Queen Latifah and Mona Scott-Young listed among producers, will turn the spotlight towards the innovate women who have set fire to this male-dominated industry.
Expect to see some big names on the stage in New York City. Who will be honored? Who’s performing? Those names haven’t been released yet, but we have our fingers crossed hoping to see some faces from the Golden Age.
TLRay Music will keep you updated as more information is released.
